Jalanan will go down in Asian cinema history as the first feature-length documentary film from Indonesia to have had a substantial cinema run. It has also won a closetful of awards. Filmed over 5 years, the film follows the travails of 3 street musicians eking out a living in Jakarta. Jalanan tells the story of Boni, Ho and Titi – 3 gifted, charismatic street musicians in Jakarta over a tumultuous 5-year period.

Using the powerful soundtrack of the musicians' original compositions to drive the film, it traces their elusive quest for identity and love in the day-to-day of a city overrun by the effects of globalisation and corruption.
